About English Rural
English Rural is a specialist non-profit rural housing association, established in 1991. We only build and manage homes in village locations, principally across the south of England. All the homes we build are community-led and designed to benefit local people. We are also one of the leading national advocates on affordable rural housing issues, with HRH The Princess Royal as our Patron.
Generally speaking, we develop our homes on ‘rural exception sites’. This enables us to ensure they are affordable and secured for local people – forever. Our residents and the local community are at the heart of what we do and we work at the invitation of the Parish Council.
Affordable doesn’t mean poor quality. Our homes are designed and built to high standards, usually using local design features and ensuring that their environmental impact is minimal. We build beautiful homes that villages can be proud of and our homes consistently win awards for design and construction.

What Is Proposed?
We are proposing to design, build and manage a single development of affordable homes, to serve those households living or working within the Parish.
The Winchfield Parish, Housing Needs Survey http://www.winchfield-pc.org.uk/community/winchfield-parish-council-7804/affordable-homes/ identified a need for 6-8 affordable homes.
With input from local landowners, Hart District Council Housing Officers, the Rural Housing Enabler and English Rural, 2 sites have emerged, upon which we are seeking the views of the local community.
Subject to further assessment of the selected site and the design evolution, a mix of homes is required to help to meet current and future housings needs from the community. This could include;
• 2x 1 Bedroom Maisonettes.
• 3x 2 Bedroom Houses
• 1x 3 Bedroom House
The preferred tenure for these homes is rented affordable.
In each scheme 2 Custom Build homes are proposed for the current landowners and their family; which also serve to provide a cross subsidy to the affordable homes.
Visit the 'Visuals' page to view sketch ideas of what the site layouts might look like.

The location of the two shortlisted sites are identified on the adjacent map as Site 1 and Site 2.
